Dr Prasad Athreya is an Australian trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspeciality interests in Adult and Paediatric Orthopaedics and Foot & Ankle Surgery. He grew up and attended school in Western Sydney, and studied medicine at the University of New South Wales.
After completing his fellowship training with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association, Dr Athreya has completed a foot and ankle fellowship in Sydney, Australia, and a paediatric orthopaedic fellowship at the well renowned Starship Children’s Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand.
Dr Athreya works as an orthopaedic surgeon at Westmead Children’s Hospital and treats a wide variety of paediatric orthopaedic problems such as in/out-toeing, bowed legs/knocked knees, toe walking, flat/high arched feet, clubfeet and toe problems. He also manages paediatric trauma including upper and lower limb fractures, sprains and soft tissue injuries.
Dr Athreya is also trained to treat all adult foot and ankle problems including bunions and toe deformities, arthritis, ankle sprains and instability, achilles problems, plantar fasciitis and neuromas. He has specialised training in the orthopaedic management of diabetic foot problems such as ulcers, charcot arthropathy and infection.
When he has spare time after helping to look after his 2 year old twins, Dr Athreya enjoys cycling, reading, travelling and playing golf.
