Dr Aung graduated from the University of Medicine 2, Yangon, in 2004. He practised in Jamaica before relocating to Australia, where he worked at Ipswich Hospital. He later completed his GP specialty training in Townsville, with a focus on providing comprehensive primary care. Dr Aung is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

In his spare time, he enjoys gardening and spending quality time with his family.
